China's STAR.VISION, an AI satellite company, and its Omani partner announced on Tuesday the development of an advanced digital twin city platform, aiming to reshape the landscape of earth observation with artificial intelligence and satellite technology.

STAR.VISION's collaboration with Oman's Lens LLC was announced during the 2024 COMEX Global Technology Show, a four-day tech exhibition starting on Monday.

The platform, according to the Chinese company, will utilize AI and satellite imagery to develop 3D models for building detection, green cover analysis, and road mapping, among other applications.

The project, in line with the Belt and Road Initiative and Oman's Vision 2040 for smart city solutions, will transform Oman's urban planning, infrastructure management, and emergency preparedness, STAR.VISION cofounder Noor Fan told Xinhua.

In August 2023, STAR.VISION teamed up with Oman's Sultan Qaboos University, sending WonderJourney-1A, Oman's first AI-enabled satellite, into space.
