Former Brazilian international footballer Kaka visited China's Village Super League in Rongjiang County, southwest China's Guizhou Province on Monday night.

Despite being a workday, the stadium was full of spectators cheering and welcoming Kaka as he entered the stadium.

"It was the first time that I heard about Cun Chao and it was a very very good surprise come here," said Kaka, "and I received this warm welcome, all the caring in love for the people. So for me was a great great experience."

In 2023, the Village Super League (VSL), also dubbed "Cun Chao," featuring 20 teams, became a hit in China and the world for its popularity, down-to-earth nature and festive atmosphere.

Kaka said that he was invited by the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development and a Chinese smartphone brand to participate in the "Chasing Dreams" charity football event, which aims to boost local youth football and the development of the VSL.

"I think it's really important to promote the football with (the younger) generation, so seeing girls playing football today was really nice. Seeing those girls playing football and trying to chase their dreams, I think it's amazing. One day I had a dream and this dream came true and I hope also for those girls and boys they have in (the) future this opportunity to have their dreams come true," said Kaka.
