China's men's football national team is in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, for a crucial world cup qualifier against Thailand a week from Thursday.

After the first four games, China sits second in Group C with seven points, three ahead of third-placed Thailand. Branko Ivankovic's side will face South Korea next on June 11 to wrap up this qualifying stage.

China and Thailand both have a chance to advance to the second round with the two games left. Naturalized forward Alan is back in the team after scoring five goals in 14 Chinese Super League (CSL) games so far this season for Qingdao West Coast.

But Shanghai Port striker Wu Lei and Shandong Taishan midfielder Li Yuanyi will miss out due to suspension. After a busy CSL schedule, China's players are confident they can recover in time for the two huge games.
