China is ready to work with Morocco to promote the upgrading of practical cooperation and open up broader prospects for the two countries' strategic partnership, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, who is in Beijing to attend the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

Wang said China firmly supports Morocco in safeguarding national security and stability and supports the country in taking a development path that suits its national conditions.

China appreciates Morocco's support of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and joining the Group of Friends of the GDI, said Wang, adding that China welcomes Morocco's continued active participation in the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative and working together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Regarding Morocco as an important partner in the Belt and Road cooperation, China is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Morocco in areas including economy and trade, investment, industry and tourism, he said.

Noting that Morocco has always actively supported and participated in the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, Wang said China is willing to work with Arab countries, including Morocco, to successfully convene the forum and push China-Arab relations to a higher level.

For his part, Bourita said Morocco attaches great importance to developing relations with China and firmly supports the one-China policy.

Morocco firmly stands with China on international multilateral occasions and is committed to building a more balanced and just international order that upholds mutual respect and opposes hegemony, he said.

Bourita said Morocco is willing to maintain close communication and coordination with China under the mechanisms of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, accelerate the Belt and Road cooperation and push the two countries' strategic partnership to a new level.
