Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the League of Arab States Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit at the 10th Ministerial Conference of China-Arab States in Beijing on Wednesday, with both sides expressing willingness to strengthen practical cooperation and promote solving the Palestine issue.

The Arab League was the first regional organization to sign a joint statement with China aimed at further implementing the Global Civilization Initiative, said Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stressing that China-Arab ties are currently in their best period in history.

China is ready to work with the League of Arab States to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both sides, enhance political mutual trust and deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, Wang noted.

China supports Arab countries in strengthening unity and playing a greater role on the issue of Palestine and is willing to work with the Arab League and Arab countries to promote a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestine issue, Wang said.

Aboul-Gheit said the Arab League attaches great importance to the development of relations with China and firmly supports the one-China principle.

The Arab League highly appreciates China's position on the Palestine issue, and is willing to continue to work with China to promote solving it, Aboul-Gheit said.
