Degradation of free speech: American democracy at an impasse

"We have seen for years the degradation of free speech on American universities. I think this is something that's been empirically demonstrated by a number of studies," says Josef Gregory Mahoney, professor of politics at East China Normal University, in CGTN's special report "Fire and Fury." Actions speak louder than words. Can the United States break through the impasse with democratic values it has long proclaimed? That's the question the American people and the rest of the world are waiting for the U.S. government to answer. But for now, as the armed conflict intensifies in Gaza, one thing is clear as day: If the U.S. continues its unwavering support for Israel while ignoring the rising death toll in Gaza, the fire and fury will undoubtedly haunt America for a long time to come.
