Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday expounded on China's stance on the Palestine issue at the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) in Beijing.

The Palestine issue is at the core of the Middle East issue, said Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

No matter how the international situation changes, China will always firmly support the restoration of the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, he said.

China will always support the establishment of an independent State of Palestine that enjoys full sovereignty based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital and support Palestine's full membership in the United Nations, he said.

China is also willing to make greater contributions to promoting domestic reconciliation of Palestine, said Wang.

He said the current situation in Gaza is unsustainable and that it is the international consensus to secure an unconditional and immediate ceasefire.

Improving the humanitarian situation is a pressing priority, and the lives of innocent civilians shall not continue to be harmed, said Wang.

China will continue to stand firmly with Arab states, uphold justice and promote an early, comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestine issue, he said.

A China-Arab states joint statement on the Palestine issue was adopted at the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum on Thursday.
