Former Germany and Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick has replaced the recently sacked Xavi Hernandez as coach of Barcelona with a two-year deal, the club announced on Wednesday.
This will mark Flick's first coaching role since his dismissal by Germany last September.
The 59-year-old previously served as the head coach of Bayern Munich for two seasons from 2019-2021, during which time the club secured the 2019-2020 Champions League title and back-to-back German Bundesliga championships.

"First of all, I would like to say thank you to everyone who is included. It's a big honor and also a dream for me to sign my contract here in Barcelona, to work for this club, for this amazing club. I am happy to start. The club is really unbelievable, it's amazing, because everyone here in the club loves this club and tries to give his best so that they have success," Flick said.
"The philosophy they have, it's similar like mine, all possession and really attacking football. These are the things I love. We'll work on that," he added.
"I won some titles with Bayern Munich and my hunger is really big for titles. And I would like to stay on this path with Barcelona. I think we can achieve a lot together. This is an important thing."
