Shantou in south China is famous for its food. People here take great pride in their Chaozhou, or Teochew, cuisine, which features delicate seafood dishes and rich-flavored broths. This regional form of cooking is considered part of Cantonese cuisine, which some gourmets consider the pinnacle of Chinese fine dining.
