Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue earlier on Friday. It is the first in-person meeting between the two nations' defense chiefs since 2022. The pair discussed regional and international security issues, including the Taiwan question, the South China Sea issue and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
