Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu on Thursday met with U.S. Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer in Washington, D.C., according to China Media Group.

The two sides had frank, in-depth and constructive communication on the current China-U.S. relationship as well as international and regional issues of common concern, the report said.

During the meeting, Ma elaborated on China's solemn position on issues related to Taiwan region and the South China Sea, and urged the U.S. side to take practical actions to honor President Joe Biden's commitment to effectively respect China's sovereignty, security and development interests.

Both sides agreed that they should continue to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state in their meeting in San Francisco, strengthen high-level exchanges and all-level communication, expand cooperation and manage differences to stabilize and develop bilateral ties.

Ma also met with U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. They exchanged views on important issues concerning bilateral relations.
