Typhoon Maliksi made landfall in Yangxi County, Yangjiang City, south China's Guangdong Province, at around 12:55 a.m. on June 1 as a tropical storm, becoming the first typhoon to land in China this year. After landfall, Maliksi weakened from a tropical storm to a tropical depression.
According to Chinese Meteorological Administration forecasts, Maliksi will further weaken during the day on June 1, but the abundant warm and moist air it brings will still cause heavy rainfall in Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces. Areas in Guangdong, Fujian, the southeastern coast of China, eastern Jiangxi and southern Zhejiang will experience heavy to torrential rain, necessitating precautionary measures.

Meteorologists advise that the public in Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other affected areas should stay informed about forecasts and warnings to prevent potential disasters such as flash floods, geological hazards and urban waterlogging due to the heavy rainfall. Additionally, the coastal areas of Guangdong and Fujian will experience strong winds, which could adversely affect marine operations, so the public should adjust travel plans accordingly.
In contrast to the heavy rainfall in the south, the north will experience mostly clear and dry weather. Yesterday, Henan, Shandong and Shanxi experienced hot weather, and the northern region will continue to have mainly sunny days with occasional localized high temperatures in Hebei and Henan in the coming days. Furthermore, high temperatures are also expected in the North China Plain on June 3–4.
