WTT Champions Chongqing: Team China ease into last 16

Team China eased into the last 16 of the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions event in south China's Chongqing Municipality on Friday.

In the men's singles, China's Fan Zhendong defeated Lee Sang-su of South Korea while Liang Jingkun beat Alexis Lebrun of France, with both games ending 3-0.

Liang and Lebrun last met at the WTT Champions in Incheon, South Korea, where the Frenchman suffered a 3-2 defeat.

China's Lin Gaoyuan advanced with a 3-1 victory over Anton Kallberg of Sweden.

In the women's singles, China's Wang Manyu defeated Mima Ito of Japan 3-0 while Wang Yidi overcame Sofia Polcanova 3-2 in their round of 32 matches.

Chen Meng, Sun Yingsha and Chen Xingtong all eased into the next round with 3-0 wins.

Chen Meng passed Prithika Pavade of France, Sun Yingsha defeated Linda Bergstrom of Sweden, and Chen Xingtong overcame Yang Xiaoxin of Monaco.

He Zhuojia advanced with a 3-1 victory, only losing the third set 8-11 to American Amy Wang.

The WTT Champions Chongqing event, featuring only the men's and women's singles matches, runs from May 30 to June 3 at the Huaxi International Sports and Culture Center in Chongqing.
