The China National Space Administration announced that the Chang'e-6 probe's lander-ascender combination landed on the far side of the moon on Sunday morning. It will collect samples from this rarely explored terrain for the first time in history. James Head, a Geological Sciences professor at Brown University who has trained astronaut crews and selected Apollo moon landing sites, explained the significance of this sample collection.
