Yangqu Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River in northwest China's Qinghai Province, is expected to begin operation by the end of this year as the construction of its main body completed on May 31.
With a reservoir capacity of 1.64 billion cubic meters, the plant is expected to make over 4,700 gigawatt-hours of electricity per annum. It is an important facility supporting China's first 800-kilovolt direct current transmission line.
