Ruling party candidate Claudia Sheinbaum has won Mexico's presidential election, according to the National Electoral Institute's rapid sample count released on Sunday night.
Sheinbaum declared victory in the presidential election on social media.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that he congratulated Sheinbaum "who will be first female president of Mexico."
