Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a statement on social platform X on Tuesday, claiming victory in the Indian general election for a third term in power. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that Modi is part of, is projected to cross the 272 majority in the lower house of the Indian parliament, as per figures released by the country's election commission. However, contrary to exit poll figures, the BJP is expected to fall well short of achieving a single-party majority.
"People have placed their faith in NDA for a third consecutive time," Modi wrote. "This is a historical feat in India's history."
