13-year-old Palestinian girl shoulders the burdens of life amid conflict

00:59

Children are among the most severely affected by the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As resources become increasingly scarce and the humanitarian situation worsens, many children in the Gaza Strip are forced to venture out daily, like adults, to search for supplies and shoulder the responsibility of supporting their families. In Khan Younis, many children drag water bottles and buckets to distant water points every day, then carry the water back home along the rubble-strewn streets. A 13-year-old Palestinian girl says she fetches water because, apart from her mother, there are no other adults in her family. She hopes that the conflict will end one day so she can resume her studies and achieve her dreams.
