Shanghai Book City on Fuzhou Road, located in the Huangpu district, stands as one of China's earliest super-sized bookstores and is a source of pride for Shanghai citizens.

In December 2018, marking its 20th anniversary, the bookstore released impressive statistics: from 1999 to 2018, sales at Shanghai Book City exceeded 3 billion yuan, with over 116 million books sold.

Following nearly two years of upgrades and renovations, the Shanghai Book City reopened in October 2023. The revamped bookstore has evolved into a cultural landmark with a smart green concept, illustrating a successful case of urban renewal. Beyond its role as a reading haven, the bookstore now hosts events such as film exhibitions, comic book expos, photography exhibitions, and fashion shows, providing a gateway for people of all ages to experience new cultural offerings year-round.

This year, Shanghai Book City has been selected as one of the public screening venues, offering Shanghai residents the opportunity to enjoy international and domestic works in local cultural spaces and engage directly with global filmmakers during the Shanghai TV Festival.

This year's Shanghai International Film Festival and Shanghai TV Festival are set to be held in June, from 14–23 and 24-28, respectively.
