Jannik Sinner powered past Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 on Tuesday to progress to his first French Open semi-final, where he will face Spain's Carlos Alcaraz. The Australian Open champion will move to the top of the rankings next week after Novak Djokovic's withdrawal from the tournament. The defending French Open champion was forced to pull out of the Grand Slam tournament before his quarter-final due to a knee issue. The injury, sustained in the Serb's fourth-round win over Francisco Cerundolo, ended Djokovic's quest for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam trophy and will result in him losing the world number one ranking to Sinner. The Italian will be the first from his country to reach the top spot in the rankings.
