Chinese players advanced to the semi-finals in every event at the BWF Indonesia Open badminton tournament. In women's singles, defending champion Chen Yufei cruised into the semi-finals with a 21-15, 21-7 win over Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei. The second-seeded Chinese defeated Spain's Carolina Marin in the final to win her first tournament title last year and is now two matches away from her second straight title in Jakarta.

In men's singles, the fairytale run of Leong Jun Hao of Malaysia came to an end after losing to No. 6 seed Li Shifeng of China 21-11, 21-12 in the quarter-finals. The result marks Li's third straight win against Leong and sets up an all-Chinese semi-final against Shi Yuqi.

In the mixed doubles, fifth-seeded Chinese pair Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin secured a spot in the semi-finals after producing an upset 21-17, 11-21, 21-16 win over their second-seeded teammates Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. It was Jiang and Wei's first win against Feng and Huang in eight attempts.
