The Dallas Mavericks will play the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on Sunday. Despite their 107-89 loss in Game 1, coach Jason Kidd told reporters that there's "no panic" with his team.

"There's no panic with this group," Kidd said after Saturday's practice. "We didn't play well in Game 1. Give credit to Boston; they did. But it's a series. We don't just look or capitalize on just one game. We've lost Game 1 a lot of times, and we've responded. We believe that we can respond in Game 2."

The Mavericks lost their first game in both the Western Conference first round (against the Los Angeles Clippers) and semifinals (against the Oklahoma City Thunder). Including the loss to the Celtics, they trailed by at least 25 points in all three openers. No team has done this before in NBA history, according to ESPN Stats & Information. However, it's also true that the Mavericks came back to knock out both the Clippers and the Thunder.

The Mavericks shot 35-for-84 from the field and 7-for-27 from downtown when they lost to the Celtics on Thursday. Only four of their players scored double-digits and Luka Doncic was the only one that surpassed 15 with a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Nonetheless, he only delivered one assist.

"I think just be a little bit more aggressive," Doncic said. "I think we all came out for the game with little energy. So I think we have to be better with our energy, especially from the start."

As for the other half of the Mavericks' star duo, Kyrie Irving missed 13 of his 19 field goals to get no more than 12 points. The team will need him to bounce back to make a difference in Game 2.

"I failed miserably, while also not knowing how to compartmentalize or accept the emotions that come with failure," Irving told reporters. "And also being on the successful side, (I) didn't know how to handle that either."
