Rowers tackle river in annual Foshan dragon boat race

The annual dragon boat drifting race was held ahead of the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on Monday this year. The race is the first of a four-day boat racing event where contestants tackle S-, C- and L-shaped and straight tracks over 650 meters in length. It's a tough challenge given that the average width of such tracks is no more than 5 meters. The fierce competition was broadcast live on TV as crowds cheered from the banks.
