The Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwu Festival, is a traditional holiday that commemorates the death of Chinese poet Qu Yuan. As one of China's major traditional festivals, the Dragon Boat Festival has been celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar for millennia. This year the celebration falls on June 10. Zongzi, rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves, and dragon boat races are two of the most representative elements of the festival. In this video, Rachel, a Uzbek student at Sichuan University, hits the streets of Chengdu in southwest China to experience the festive vibe. She also introduces the Navruz Festival in Uzbekistan, which marks the beginning of spring. Rachel says that the Dragon Boat Festival and Navruz reflect the diversity of cultures, which helps us gain a deeper understanding of each other.
