Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Israel Katz decided to appoint Danny Danon as the country's ambassador to the United Nations, Netanyahu's office said in a statement on Sunday.

The appointment will be submitted for approval by the Israeli government, after which Danon will begin a second term as Israel's ambassador to the UN, the statement added.

Danon served as Israel's 17th permanent representative to the UN from 2015 to 2020.
