June 10 ushers in this year's Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival. It is the first Chinese festival to be inscribed in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, but many other countries also celebrate China's Dragon Boat Festival and have their own customs.

In this video, Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thanh, a Vietnamese vlogger living in China, shares her understanding of the origins and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival. She also tastes zongzi, the traditional glutinous rice dumplings eaten in China during the festival, wears scented sachets, and compares the Dragon Boat Festival customs in China and Vietnam. The Dragon Boat Festival in Vietnam is also known as the pest-killing festival. "On this day, everyone is mobilized to catch insects and eliminate species harmful to crops to pray for a good harvest," she says.
