As China's Chang'e-6 lunar probe orbits the moon, awaiting its return to Earth, the five-star red flag unfurled on the lunar surface, the first flag of any country to fly on the far side of the moon, has caught the eye of people around the world.

Basalt fiber boasts exceptional insulation and radiation resistance, making it ideal for withstanding the harsh conditions on the moon. The researchers overcame many technical challenges to develop the national flag with superior corrosion resistance, high-temperature tolerance, and low-temperature endurance by utilizing technologies such as basalt melting and drawing.
