As we celebrate the first UN International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations on June 10, CGTN’s Enoch Wong speaks to a Russian PhD student at Beijing Foreign Studies University about what cross-cultural exchanges mean to her. The student used her hobby – music – to show how cultures learn from each other and spoke of her research on contrastive linguistics between Chinese, Russian and English to highlight similarities among languages. She also said that harmony involves accepting differences, while shared values help build unity, and mentioned the Chinese character "he" to explain how she understood harmony and how that concept has developed to guide cross-civilization communication.
