An Israeli strike on southern Lebanon killed a senior Hezbollah commander late Tuesday, the militant group said.
It named the commander as Sami Abdallah, alias Abu Taleb, born in 1969, in a statement reporting his death "with great pride and great honor."
The commander was "the most senior member" of the group killed in eight months of fire between Israel and Hezbollah, a Lebanese military source was quoted by both AFP and Reuters.
The source said the strike hit the town of Jouaiyya and also killed three other people.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
