Editor's Note: More than a decade of civil war and turmoil have roiled Libya's society and plunged the country into endless conflicts. What role can China play in providing assistance and guidance to restore Libya's socioeconomic fabric and kick-start its development? In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun sat down with Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity and Foreign Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, who attended the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum in Beijing on May 30. Dbeibah discusses Libya's "Return to Life" initiative with much optimism and confidence. "We are starting to rebuild and revitalize Libya," he remarks, saying that his visit to China "is not about seeking aid; it's about discussing our future." He underscores China's role in this process, which he believes is crucial for Libya as well as for all Arab states. He fully endorses President Xi's global initiatives and China's "Five Cooperation Frameworks" to promote development in the Middle East and North Africa. Regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, Dbeibah launches a desperate and moving plea: "Stop the killing! Stop the war! Stop the destruction!" and he looks forward to seeing more Chinese wisdom at play in the region.
