The Tianfu high-speed train maintenance base, the largest of its kind in southwest China, began operations on Friday. Located in Tianfu New Area of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, the base spans approximately 2,090 mu (about 1.39 square kilometers) and includes two yards, east and west.
The base is equipped with 24 maintenance lines, allowing it to service up to 180 standard train sets daily. Currently, the east yard is operational, featuring 12 lines capable of handling the upkeep of up to 90 multiple-unit trains per day at full capacity.
The base has implemented a new generation of information technology and intelligent equipment for its command system, which enables real-time monitoring of various maintenance operations, real-time tracking and sharing of maintenance data, as well as intelligent scheduling of maintenance plans.

Additionally, several conventional devices have been upgraded to enhance the efficiency of train set maintenance. The base has also installed an intelligent ventilation and temperature control system, which reduces energy consumption and improves the working environment for maintenance personnel, offering a smarter, greener and more efficient experience for train set inspections.
Each train set is required to undergo maintenance at the base every 48 hours or after 6,600 kilometers of operation. With the Tianfu depot now operational, the frequency and scale of high-speed train services in the southwest region will significantly increase, meeting public travel demands and supporting the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
