China is willing to work with New Zealand to uphold common values, carry forward their traditional friendship and make efforts to upgrade the China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said on Friday.

Li made the remarks while addressing a welcome banquet held by various social communities in Auckland with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.

China is ready to work with New Zealand to deepen and expand cooperation in fields including biomedicine, agriculture, food, new energy and digital economy, strengthen coordination in multilateral fields and contribute to the peace and development of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the world, he said.

Li noted that, since the beginning of this year, the momentum of China's economic recovery has continued to consolidate and strengthen. "In the long run, the long-term positive trend of the Chinese economy will not change."

China is willing to share opportunities with other countries to achieve common development, he added.

In his address, Luxon said that New Zealand-China ties is one of the most important external relations for the country.

He said his country will continue to prioritize New Zealand-China ties in its diplomacy, work with China to deepen cooperation in economy and trade, agriculture, intellectual property, education and tourism, jointly protect the environment and address global challenges such as climate change.
