Bursting with lush swathes of green, the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is at its prime in peak summer, making it one of the best seasons to visit the scenic area in Beijing. The attraction features a high vegetation coverage of more than 90 percent.

First built during the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577), the Mutianyu section was rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and used to serve as the northern barrier defending the capital Beijing and the imperial tombs. With its strategic location, the Mutianyu section is one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall.
