Traditional Wangmantian fish-shaped lanterns are renowned across China. Little wonder then, that every year during the Lantern Festival, these beautiful lanterns dominate the streets and alleys of Wangmantian in east China's Anhui Province.

Wang Chengfeng is a pioneering innovator working in this ancient tradition – the first to sell Wangmantian fish-shaped lanterns outside the village. But it hasn't been easy to make these delicate and easily damaged lanterns available to the wider world, which is why he developed a new way of producing them based on durable fabric.

Could his daring approach breathe new life into this age-old tradition and help these delightful fish-shaped lanterns cast their colorful lights beyond the mountains?
