The economy of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) grew by 2.7 percent in the first quarter of 2024 over the same period a year earlier, down from a 4.3 percent increase in the last quarter of 2023. Some Western media outlets have taken this as one of the indicators that the city has lost ground to regional rival Singapore as a financial hub. CGTN's Xu Hua spoke with John Lee, chief executive of the HKSAR government, about what he thinks of these claims.
