China-Brazil relations go beyond the bilateral scope and have strategic significance and global influence. Brazil has always closely coordinated and cooperated with China in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the G20, and BRICS to jointly safeguard multilateralism. And bilateral relations are getting even closer as cooperation and dialogue mechanisms are aligning development strategies between the two countries. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's He Yanke sat down with Geraldo Alckmin, vice president of Brazil, who co-chaired the seventh meeting of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee (COSBAN) on June 6 in Beijing. Alckmin says Brazil attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the COSBAN mechanism as a new starting point to further strengthen communication and coordination on areas of common interest. Alckmin is also keen to deepen and expand exchanges and cooperation to provide "better employment, higher income, and economic growth" to people in Brazil. He praises China's achievements in eradicating extreme poverty, a model for other countries to emulate. "It is our duty to help those in need," he remarks.
