Tekesi in Ili Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is a town famous for its layout. It is shaped like eight diagrams, or bagua, used in Chinese Taoist cosmology emphasizing harmony. There is a bagua cultural square in the town center, eight streets are fanned out and connected by four ring roads from the center to the city's edge.
