Heavy rains and thunderstorms have been battering the northern part of Meizhou City in south China's Guangdong Province, causing disasters in many areas. As of the morning of June 17, some towns and villages in Meizhou still could not be reached due to power and network outages caused by the flooding. Emergency rescue work is underway in the affected areas.
