Over the past weekend, about 500 rowing lovers from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and other places participated in a rowing competition in Beijing Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park, the venue for the 2008 Olympic Games. The competition attracted 29 teams, including the Peking University Alumni Team, the Tsinghua Rowing Association and the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China. Rowing activities in China have seen a rise in recent years as the number of fans and clubs has grown.
