Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng met with U.S. Director of National Drug Control Policy Rahul Gupta on June 14. The two sides had "candid and in-depth" discussions on promoting bilateral counter-narcotics cooperation based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

Noting that fentanyl is not China's problem, nor is it a problem made by China, Xie said that based on humanitarian considerations, China has been assisting the U.S. side within its ability in dealing with the fentanyl issue, making great efforts and demonstrating sincerity in cooperation.

He urged the U.S. side to meet China halfway and effectively resolve the concerns raised by the Chinese side to create a good atmosphere for future cooperation.
