Shanghai Port defeated Meizhou Hakka 2-1 in a rescheduled Chinese Super League (CSL) game in Meizhou, south China's Guangdong Province, on Tuesday, rising to lead the table after the first half of the 2024 season.

Port were in charge in the first half and created a series of scoring chances. However, Tyrone Conraad netted first for Hakka in the 34th minute, but it was denied as an offside goal.

Hakka's goalkeeper Cheng Yuelei was probably the busiest player of both sides in the first half as he rejected multiple shots by the opponents. Nonetheless, he failed to guard their goal in the 54th minute. Oscar's corner kick caused chaos in Hakka's box before Leo Cittadini scored for Port to lead 1-0.

Cittadini seemed to have touched the ball with his hand before shooting, but the referee ruled the goal effective after checking the replay for nearly five minutes. Raged by this decision, Hakka's players grew more reckless on the field. Wu Lei exploited their changed mindset to scored the second goal for Port in the 67th minute.

Hakka continued to take hits as the game went on. Ye Chugui was shown his second yellow card for a tackle on Feng Jin from behind in the 69th minute. Yang Chaosheng scored for Hakka in the 78th minute, but it was denied because his teammate Rooney Eva Wankewai was offside.

Hakka finally netted in the 84th minute after Nebojsa Kosovic blew Yang's cross into Port's goal with a volley. The club had the chance to tie the score at the end of the game, but Yang's shot was blocked by the defender in front of the goal.

Hakka saw their three-game undefeated streak end after Tuesday's loss.
