The rare Amorphophallus titanum, or titan arum, blooms at Kew Gardens, London, a spectacle expected to last another two to three days. The "Konjac giant" gives off a strong smell reminiscent of rotting flesh, so it is also nicknamed "corpse flower." The flower can grow up to 3 meters, and seeing it in bloom is rare. It can take up to 12 years to gather enough energy to produce its first flower, and subsequent blooms occur every few years.
