Azerbaijan's parliament on Friday formally asked President Ilham Aliyev to hold snap parliamentary elections, Reuters reported.

The need for snap elections is dictated by the timing of the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) which will be held in Azerbaijan, the parliament said.
