Israel's Foreign Ministry said it summoned Armenia's ambassador to Israel after Armenia declared Friday that it recognizes the State of Palestine. 

"Following Armenia's recognition of a Palestinian state, the foreign ministry summoned the Armenian ambassador in Israel for a severe reprimand," it said in a statement shortly after Armenia's announcement.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry said it supports a United Nations resolution on an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and is in favor of a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Armenia was the latest country to officially recognize the Palestine state, following Norway, Ireland and Spain, which made the same declaration last month. 

Palestine's presidency swiftly commended Armenia's recognition, calling it a "courageous and significant decision," according to Wafa news agency. 

On June 3, over 20 UN experts and special rapporteurs called on all countries to recognize a Palestinian state. So far, over 140 countries have already recognized a Palestinian state, representing more than two-thirds of the United Nations' membership.
