Microsoft-backed OpenAI has acquired Rockset, a startup specializing in search and database analytics, to enhance the infrastructure for its enterprise products, the ChatGPT maker announced on Friday.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sources familiar with the matter revealed to Reuters that OpenAI acquired Rockset in a stock deal valuing the company at several hundred million dollars, making it one of OpenAI's largest acquisitions to date.

Earlier this year, the company was valued at $86 billion in a tender offer by investors.

Rockset, founded by former Meta engineers, develops real-time search and analytics databases. The company has leveraged artificial intelligence in applications ranging from chatbots to anomaly detection.

Backed by Greylock, Sequoia, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise's venture capital arm, Rockset announced last year that it had raised a total of $105 million in funding.

Rockset stated that its team will integrate with OpenAI, with its technology set to enhance the retrieval infrastructure for OpenAI's enterprise products.
