Recently, a video of him teaching folk dance with full vitality to a group of young dancers went viral online. The video was filmed by one of Gao's graduate students, and has garnered many comments praising Gao's dedication to teaching even in his silver-hair age.

Sitting down with CGTN, the 65-year-old professor modestly thanked his online fans, saying that the recognition and fame he received should motivate him to better convey cultural values. "When I'm in the classroom, I'm the happiest and the most joyous," he said.
