The Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Saturday. It's the first astronomical satellite jointly developed by China and France. According to its principal investigators, it's expected to contribute to the understanding of the origin of the universe.
