German vice chancellor: We must work to avoid separate markets

02:04

In a news conference in Shanghai during his trip in China, German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck warned EU tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles could make the world more complicated. He added that open markets are the right path for both China and the EU to thrive. He said the export-oriented countries like China and Germany must work against this tendency of separated markets. "Tariffs only ultimately hurt the market, I don't want them. I hope nobody in Europe wants the tariffs. Therefore, we should work to avoid it."
