Water Level of Xijiang River recedes below warning line

CGTN

With the water level at Wuzhou Hydrological Station coming down to 18.40 meters at 4 a.m. Monday, falling below the warning level (18.5 meters), the peak flood level of the Xijiang River receded in Wuzhou City of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Consequently, the water level of all rivers in Wuzhou is now below the warning level. Currently, the water levels of the Xunjiang, Xijiang, Guijiang rivers and their tributaries are gradually declining, and the Wuzhou Maritime Safety Administration is promptly guiding and managing the navigation for previously halted vessels.

As the water level of the rivers in Wuzhou continues to decline, the maritime authorities have adjusted the navigation suspension measures for the Xijiang and Guijiang rivers. At 10 a.m. Monday, the Wuzhou Maritime Safety Administration lifted the Level IV flood control emergency response, fully resuming navigation on the Guijiang and Xijiang rivers.

Zhang Rong, Deputy Director of the Wuzhou Maritime Safety Administration's Maritime Patrol Law Enforcement Team, stated that the administration has adopted segmented and timed navigation restoration measures to resume orderly navigation. The administration staff are closely monitoring the vessels, strengthening on-site inspections and electronic patrols, and ensuring the guidance of vessels to prevent collisions, anchor drifting, and other incidents.

The Wuzhou Maritime Safety Administration will continue to strengthen on-site safety supervision of vessels, implement early warnings and pre-controls, and make every effort to ensure maritime traffic safety for the resumption of work following the floods.
