The death toll from the consumption of toxic illegal alcohol in India has risen to 57, with 156 people still being treated at hospitals, local media reported on Monday, citing local authorities.
Last week, hundreds of people in Kallakurichi district in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu consumed a batch of locally made "arrack," which was laced with methanol.
